The Roughnotes is a band. What kind of band? They do not know.

Born in the frivolity of the Toronto cityscape, The Roughnotes is composed of Charlie Cohen, Colin Brady, and Jay Chisamore. In the past, it has been formed otherwise but I don't know that that is currently important to our story.

Charlie, AKA CHUCK SMASH, is a mild-mannered audio technician who is rumoured to have alien physiology which allows him to SMASH the forces of both good and evil (his choice of side is mood dependent) necessarily, occasionally unintentionally, and always with the power of a thousand shawarmas.

Colin, the mind and soul, the artiste, the mensch, consistently considers practicing the guitar but instead often opts for pizza, pillows, and Batman comics. Jay, the flatulent, farts out bass lines composed of cheesy toast and beerwithall to the point of vague, ill-wrought perfection. Together they form a laughably menacing unit, with vitriolic tongues and the dance of wet noodles.

An earlier iteration of the band, composed of Colin Brady, Matt Wills, and Paul Pitre, created a dashingly dazzling debut disc in 2014. Under the sheer ferocity of Kensingtone Records' Oliver Meurer's dragon breath and the fickle fecundity of Joseph Straccuzi's knob nibbling, The Lost Cause Chronicles hope to both honour and overbear this initial effort.

With the first of the chronicles already available as a digital release, The Roughnotes are preparing to record the second in September 2020 and press the two to vinyl. By the end 2021, they will have completed up to volume four (if not six) of The Lost Cause Chronicles, at which point they can happily fade into obscurity.
